Oh Snap Savannah Care's Got Your Back!

In just a few days — starting November 1st — more than 42 million Americans will lose their ability to purchase all the groceries they need for the month. That’s 12.3% of the population, including 4.8 million seniors who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits to put food on their tables.

These numbers aren’t just statistics — they represent our neighbors, grandparents, and friends. For so many, SNAP isn’t just a safety net; it’s the difference between nourishment and going hungry. And as the government shutdown looms, that gap between need and access is growing wider by the day.

At Savannah Care, we believe that no one in our community should have to choose between eating and paying their bills. That’s why this past week, on October 24th, we hosted a Senior Grocery Giveaway — an effort to meet immediate needs and bring hope where it’s needed most.

Together with volunteers and local supporters, we provided over five dozen Philadelphia families — more than 240 people — with grocery essentials. Our bags were filled with staples like eggs, bread, and butter, along with fresh produce, desserts, and more. It wasn’t just about food — it was about dignity, care, and community.

And we’re not stopping there.

This Tuesday, October 28th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, we’re coming together again to support our seniors and families during these uncertain times. At our

event we’ll be giving away $25.00 grocery gift cards, non-perishables, and more — thanks to the generous partnership of:
